I watch as Tatiana takes another few shots at the targets I set up for her, barely hitting the target.

“You need to aim, Sunshine,” I growl out, the frustration of the last few days are getting to me.

“This is hopeless,” her shoulders sag as she places the handgun onto the table in front of her. “Isn’t there any other way to kill someone?” She asks for the millionth time.

“There are plenty of other ways to kill someone, but there is no way you will get close enough to Vladimir to do them.”

“Teach me something else, anything else,” she lets out a frustrated sigh before heading for the hidden entrance to my place.

I walk over to the table and pick up the gun, quickly firing off the rest of the rounds in the chamber before disassembling the gun quickly. “Show off,” she grumbles from behind me as she wraps her arms around my waist, resting her check on my back.

I place the grip and barrel of the gun on the table along with the magazine before turning in her arms. I look into her, and see nothing but trepidation. “What is it, Sunshine?” There is something on her mind she wants to ask me, but won’t. “You can ask me anything.” I kiss her forehead and run my hands down her arms, releasing her grip around my waist, and thread her fingers with mine.

“How long did it take you to fire a gun?”

I pause, trying to remember back to when Grim first taught me how to fire a pistol. “I was about twelve when Grim first handed me a pistol. I was horrible at first, but I practiced for months with barely any sleep until I could hit the center of the target.” I pull her toward the entrance to my place, hitting the hidden lock and releasing the security door.

“It took me almost a year after that to hit the target without looking. It’s hard work and takes lots of practice, I don’t know why Alex believed I could teach you how to kill a man in a week.”

I sit down on the couch, pulling her into my lap. “Where is this Grim you always talk about any way? Did he leave the business and run away from home?” Tatiana giggles, but reminders of the day Grim left fill my mind.

“No, although I wish it was some kind of happy ending.” I sigh before pulling her tighter into my chest. “We were out on a job about a year ago. We were sent to kill a child molester that got off because of lack of evidence. In reality he was a rich politician that had more money than the little girl’s parents and he bought his way out of charges.” I gnash my teeth together, remembering the grief in her parent’s eyes when she came to us begging for us to take the job.”

“We got in clean, smothered the fucker with his pillow and even found his stash of kiddy porn hidden in his safe.
