Tiras
âHey.â Tiras gently took the spoon from Esaiâs grasp. The Pastor looked ready to break down as he kept stirring.
âThe oatsâ¦â
âTake a minute.â
Tiras had put on Esaiâs cloak so his chest wouldnât be on display. With his bare hand, he pulled on the swinging hook set in the stone of the fireplace so the oats wouldnât burn from the heat. He wrapped his arms around the Pastor.
âIâm not really supposed to touch people unless I need to," Esai said in a small voice.
âI think you need to. Not all touch has to be sexual, and itâs not wrong.â
After a second, Esai broke down completely as Tiras held him. Life wasnât always fair, and it wasnât right that the demons were stuck in a war with no end in sight, but at least Tiras had been able to live the way he wanted in some ways. He hadnât dared to bond with anyone in case the war killed one or the other, but heâd slept with who he wanted, and he never feared that people would reject him as a person. If anyone did, they could go screw themselves.
It wasnât fair that this human feared his own sexuality and what everyone would think of him, or that he had to hide it because someone might react with violence and disgust. It also wasnât fair that he felt he had to hurt himself physically because the mental pain told him that he was filthy.
âDo you want to sit down for a minute?â asked Tiras.
âI want-â
âWhat?â
âI just want to be fixed. My life would be so much easier.â
Tiras led him over to an armchair to sit and crouched in front of him while Esai hurried wiped at his face. âYouâre not broken, and you donât need to be fixed. Most demons where I come from are gay or they like both. The angels are like that too.â
âThat doesnât help me feel better when you fell from Godâs grace.â
Tiras tilted his head. âOkay, but I personally didnât fall from Godâs grace. All of those from before Noahâs time are long dead. Iâm a descendant. I didnât choose for my soul to be born in this body in that realm. You didnât choose to be born as a human here.â He could have mentioned Asgardians and the fairy realm but figured he could save that for another time. âYou could have been born there, and I could have been born here. How do you think God chooses?â
âUm, I donât have an answer for that. God knows us before weâre born, and I donât know how we end up wherever we are, but we have free will to be good or bad.â
Tiras pursed his lips. âWhy would he make someoneâs sexuality like that?â
âAs a temptation. Everyone has something to bear at some point.â
âSo you think he put something on you that you canât change, and youâre expected to live like that? For your whole life? What harm is your sexuality doing to anyone else? Was anybody
