“We shouldn’t go any further, you’re going to get us both killed,” stated the girl as she crossed her arms across her chest and refused to walk any further.

I was getting sick and tired of her attitude and contemplated just leaving her there. I knew it wouldn’t be the right thing to do but why should I be responsible for her? Especially when I could see the obsidian castle so much clearer now. I knew I was getting closer and would hopefully find a way to return to the people who I had apparently grown to care for. Even the grass that covered the ground was taking on a green shade as though life was finally starting to take hold the closer we got. How could that possibly not fill me with the hope that I was desperately clutching at?

It was hard having all my emotions coming up to the surface, but it was nice to be able to know that I really did care for each and every one of them.

“You’re not invincible,” she shouted from behind me.

“Have you missed all that I have accomplished down here? With these powers I am practically a god, no one can best me. I’m unstoppable and no one is allowed to say different, do I make myself clear?”

She replied with one simple word, “Crystal.”

I continued to stroll forward, knowing that she would be smart enough to follow. How foolish it would be to leave the only person who could keep her alive while she resided down here?

I finally made it to the bridge, zoning out all else that was around me, not really caring about the scenery or the creatures that lurked within it.

I came face to face with what appeared to be twins standing side by side in front of a bridge twice the size of all the others I had crossed. They appeared to be ageless, with no distinguishing features aside from the fact that they were identical.

“Welcome Unya, you have done well so far,” said the twin on the left.

“I don’t understand, why is this bridge so much larger than the others? And why are there two of you here?”

“After everything you have seen, that is what you wish to ask? Many, many years ago, this bridge used to be in two. One for vanity and one for pride, but they eventually came together and merged into one. For you see, pride and vanity go hand in hand,” stated the twin on the right, as they linked their hands together.

“So, this is my challenge? What? Get past the terrible two? Give me a break, I have defeated a giant, what I presume was a Siren and some weird cadaver like creature. How could you two possibly hope to hold me back? Not to mention the fact that I did it all with a child in my care.”

“Your pride is strong, that is your weakness girl, as well as your vanity. We have witnessed the things you have said. When you compared yourself to the gods.
