Private Mailboxes

There are more than ten thousand private mailbox services, about a third of them UPS stores (formerly Mail Boxes Etc.) at which individuals and businesses can rent a box to receive their mail. Many degree mills receive their mail in this fashion, in the United States, Great Britain, and elsewhere. They wish to fool their customers and potential customers into believing they have a campus, or at least offices, and so they wish to have an address that cannot be dearly identified as a mailbox service.

For many years, private mailbox services permitted their customers to use the street address plus almost any sort of number, which actually identified their rented box.
