The rest of the week flew by quickly. My determination to get a grip early on in the semester kept me busy. If I was to have the time for extracurricular activities and my other projects, the best way to do it would be to get ahead. Classes were followed by hours in the library, and yet more hours at my desk in my room, hitting the books hard.
My student advisor was of the opinion that it was still too early in the term to determine if I would need extra classes or not. Time would decided and there was still a lot of it. So, for now I was on my own, with my texts.
Luckily, I didnât run into Thomas Fuller yet. He seemed to be too busy with whatever it was The Three did, to pay any attention to me. But I had to deal with his sister and her horde of yes men in the group chats and class. My efforts to convince them to change side was a waste of time, as was their own efforts to convince me to drop my candidacy. The neutral members of the class were not encouraging either. Each person I approached looked immediately uncomfortable and was always impatient to end the conversation about my candidacy and move to some other things.
I was left wondering how past freshmen class reps had managed to convince people to vote for them. I would have asked Cindy, but every time I saw her, I thought immediately of Thomas humping hard behind her. She would give me away to him and his sister very quickly.
The week would have ended like any other first week at school if not for Dante Mercury and Dylan Stone. I was supposed to meet Ella Katz at the small hall where weâd had our orientation before the first D F W meeting at the end of the week. To my surprise, at the door, I was approached by Dante.
There was a frown on his face. It made me wonder where that mischievous grin, that had endeared him to the hearts of countless kids all over the world, had gone to. Was it not at least a tiny part of him? Or was it just a skill that he only turned on whenever he was on set and turned off whenever he was off set.
âYouâ he said simply.
That was hardly a greeting or a welcome sign. I simply stared back at him. He turned to point at the back of the hall. âYou will take the writing test there; somebody will supervise youâ
There were already others in the hall, clustered together, close to the front, discussing. âThe meeting is already in sessionâ I pointed out.
âThat is obviousâ he replied. The smirk on his face pricked me hard.
âYou told me four pm.â I said.
âElla told you that. I changed the time to threeâ
âWhy was I not informed?â
âBecause you are not yet a memberâ
âSeriously?â
âWrite your test and we will decide if you are
