Chapter 10

Daniel

After searching through a crowd of people rushing past me, I stood in one spot for a few minutes, looking through the haze and fog of the night ocean air, and wasted too much time trying to enjoy it, after inhaling city air for too long, and I lost Charlie.

However, as two men passed holding hands, I stopped them. “Hey, have you seen anyone that looks like Charlie St. John, the actor?” At first they narrowed their glance and furrowed their brow, but it hit them. One guy snapped his fingers.

“You’re talking about that young cute actor who has everyone thinking he’s straight, but we know he’s gay. Every time he comes home from a shoot, he throws one of those parties where you’re nobody unless you’re there. We got invited once, but haven’t been back since we were married...” The guy leaned over and kissed his husband, “We have children now and we don’t get out much, and we don’t want to expose them to the type of lifestyle Charlie leads.”

“I told you to get that out of your mind, because we have PTA meeting on that night.”

An argument ensued. It wasn’t exactly like an argument. It was one of those fights where you kiss, fuck, and make up afterwards, which made for a stronger sexual bond.

Sometimes you have to clear the air to move forward, I thought, and speaking of clearing the air. I thought about Cole, thanked them, and waved goodbye after they gave me instructions to get to that dance club, which wasn’t really for dancing. I found my way to the taxi stand in the next hotel, and hopped into one and gave him the name of the club and he drove me across town to a large warehouse, and let me out in front.

There were no lines, but there were cars parked in the parking lot surrounding the building. The music was loud, and coming from inside with speakers attached to the building, where the music thumped and beat. I hadn’t been to one of these clubs in years. From what I could see, there were old ships moored to the docks, and the smell of fish undoubtedly indicated this had to have been a shipyard once with old containers somewhere. I wasn’t interested in that. I was interested
