Chapter 16

A nap. Who the fuck would have known a grown ass man would need a nap like a kid. I feel like the world is sitting on my shoulders though. The heaviness inside of me is overwhelming. I dropped onto the bed as soon as we got back. Lyric was over at Smokey’s with Bray so she didn’t see how I looked when I came in. I’m glad for that. I know she would have a fucking fit if she saw me. I saw myself in the mirror and couldn’t believe it was really me. I hate that this feeling is all I have now. I hate that I can’t be stronger or at least as strong as I know I am. The bed shifts next to me when I turn my head and see her. Looking like pure perfection as always.

“You’ve been asleep for a long time,” she says, the look of concern covering her face. I stuff my face back into the pillow and groan.

“Just tired is all,” I mumble when I feel her hand on my back.

“Just tired, huh? You slept for two days, Crow.”

What the fuck did she just say? I pull myself up and look around the room a little stunned. There’s no way in hell that I slept for two days. How the hell can that happen?

“You’re jokin’ right?” I look back at Lyric.

She shakes her head slowly before looking away and saying, “I was going to wake you up, but then we talked to the doctor. He said to let you sleep. That your body needed it.” I scoot closer to her, wrapping my hand around the back of her neck, pulling her face to mine.

“You know what my body needs?” I ask her before running my tongue over her bottom lip.

“No.”

“Yeah, you do. It needs you.” Kissing her roughly, she moans into my mouth. I’ve missed hearing that from her. I’ve missed her. Even in my dreams a part of me ached for her. I don’t know how that’s even possible but I felt it.

“Not right now. Smokey is waiting,” she says breathlessly.

“Since when do I give a shit?” I ask before kissing her again. Lyric wiggles on the bed, no doubt wet right now. I know she wants this but then something else hits me. Shit! I slept through the surprise.

“Fuck. Your surprise,” I say when I pull back. A moment of dread skates through my stomach before she smiles.

“That’s what he’s waiting for. He said he didn’t want to do it unless you were there. No one will tell me what the hell is going on,” she says, looking a little pissed. It does my heart good to see her like that. You would think I would want her to smile but that scowl on her face makes my heart leap. I like when she’s on edge. She’s vulnerable which is something she doesn’t let her self be anymore.

“I’m glad he waited. I wanna see the look on your face.
