By noon, 26th Regiment had secured the city of Ansong. With the exception of a few pockets of fierce but brief fighting, the KPA resistance had been weak and disorganized. The final count wouldn’t be in for a while, but they’d taken more than fifty prisoners. The POWs were a shabby lot of exhausted, malnourished, and poorly equipped young men dressed in tatters. The casualties to the regiment’s infantry—with the exception of the mauling inflicted on Baker Company of the Australian battalion—had been mercifully light.

The only serious losses—and the only deaths—among the tankers were suffered by Task Force Stokely.

Sean Moon wouldn’t vent his anger over that right now. He’d wait for the debrief.
