“Yes, I remember an individual who fits that description. He came in here about two weeks ago and purchased all I had in the store. explained Zeke Kelly.

“Said he had looked all over the place for this particular type of rouge, but no one had it in stock.”

“Has this man ever been in your store before?” asked Detective Delaney.

“No, I had never seen him before.”

“Did you talk with him, ask him why he needed the rouge, maybe even get his name?”

“As a matter of fact I did, he mentioned he was writing a children’s book, and was going to start selling his products at shows.

“What I mean is, he had lined up pizza parlors to do a variety of clowns shows, for the kids, and he would give a percentage to the parlor.

“I think he was calling himself ‘Buddy the Clown,’ his real name is Pete or Paul. I’m not sure.”

“Do you believe this man lives in the area?”

“Yes I do. He mentioned he was heading home when he noticed the store sign, Kelly’s Costumes, he decided to stop in, kind of like a last hope stop, but he was coming from the north, probably Felton.

“So I believe he lives here in Santa Cruz, or at least, in the vicinity.”

“Do you believe you’ll see him again?”

“Yes. He said now that he knows where to find his supply, he’ll be stopping regularly.”

“When will you get another shipment?”

“I ordered it that day, after he purchased all I had, probably tomorrow or the next day.”

“Could you give me a call at this number if he comes back into your store, and do me a favor, try to get his name without raising any suspicion.”

“Yes, I will. Detective, is this man dangerous?”

“No, not if he’s the wrong man. Thank you for your time Mr. Kelly.”
