Once you have set the scene, tell the class that you will be providing further information in a moment. At each stage, you want the groups to discuss the information and to identify possible options.

The time is now 1430. Tell the class that the mechanic has come back and said that the aircraft can now be released to service. There is some paperwork to complete but that should only take another 30 minutes. Now tell the class that:

A ground handling agent approaches one of the cabin crew and says 'You realise that, if you do not get away soon, we will not be able to cater the aircraft as the kitchens are about to close. There's no water aboard, drinking or in the toilets. If someone doesn't make a decision we'll have no way of fixing things'. The conversation was overheard by a group of passengers who now approach the cabin crew.
