The break-in was easy. The window that gave access to the first floor opened easily, just as heâd planned the last time he was there. He gave the younger man a leg up, and then followed him through into the building. Working with Levi was uncanny; he was so similar to his father in every way, just a younger version. More importantly, he followed orders, which made Taylor's work that bit easier. The two armed and black clad figures, invisible at a distance of more than a few feet, moved silently through the building. They crept up the stairs. He'd loaned Levi one of the Colt 45 automatics. It wasn't such a reliable weapon as the Sig Sauer P226 he carried, but he had nothing else available, and he wasn't about to trust the new recruit with an assault rifle or a grenade launcher. Besides, if Levi opened up with the big Colt, anyone standing close by would know they were faced with someone who meant business. On the second floor, there was a reception area with a closed and locked door. It led to the data servers. Taylor snap kicked it, and it flew open. They went inside and found an array of rack mount hard drives with their CPUs. The rows of lights winked on and off as they operated, constantly chewing on the data that had been fed into them throughout the day. He knew his 32-gig USB stick wasnât large enough to swallow the entire archive; there were many terabytes of information in front of him. But he didn't want the complete records of MMP, only those that could hurt them, the protected data that was only accessible to the owner, Mehdi Hussein. He checked the file lists on a small screen built into one of the racks but found nothing. There was no way of identifying what he needed.
"We have to find his office," he murmured to Levi, âThatâs where weâll find what weâre looking for.â
The younger man nodded, and they left the room with the smashed open door as a testament to their intrusion. It was time to put the pressure on MMP, to let them know they were not invulnerable. They went on and up to the top floor where MMP had their main offices. He again kicked open the door, and they went inside. Finding their destination was easy; the door was labeled 'Managing Director, Mehdi Hussein'. Another kick, and they were in. Almost immediately they hit paydirt. He had a PC computer on his desktop left running, and Taylor shoved the USB stick into the front and began searching the hard drive. It was a Windows 7 operating system, and inside the documents folder he found an encrypted folder entitled âConfidential and Personalâ. He copied it over to his USB stick. It only took a couple of minutes, so he estimated the data it contained was probably letters, e-mails, and maybe bank records. It was what he wanted. He
