Chapter Twenty
CALLUM
As the seconds ticked by and those doors leading inside the bed and B&B remained closed, I could feel the waves of tension pouring off my older brother getting stronger.
The crowd was starting to murmur, the officiant was shifting anxiously from foot to foot. Even Willow, whoâd looked so radiant and happy just moments ago as she made her trek to the altar, anxiously bit the corner of her lip as she stared at the doors.
I shot her a quick look, and she shrugged in return, silently telling me she didnât have the first fucking clue what was going on. If something didnât happen soon, Clay was going to end up storming down that aisle, throwing those doors open, and carrying Lark back toward the altar in a firemanâs hold.
âJust give it another minute,â I said quietly, reaching up to put a hand on his shoulder as much for comfort as it was to keep him in place. âSheâs coming.â He pulled in a deep breath, clenching his fists so tight at his sides his knuckles bleached white, but he managed to stay put.
A moment later, the music changed. The Bridal March poured from the speakers hidden all around, and those doors finally opened. I heard my brother inhale sharply as the crowd oohed and aahed. I knew my sole focus should have been on the bride just then, but my attention was riveted on the breathtaking beauty standing beside her. I couldnât have pulled my eyes off Aurora if Iâd had a gun pointed at my head.
The floor length, sage green dress she was wearing complimented the sun-kissed bronze of her skin and all that cornsilk hair. It flowed around her feet like water with every step she took, revealing strappy bronze high-heeled sandals.
Her hair hung down her back in a shiny curtain of long, thick blonde waves with pieces around her face pinned back, little white flowers wound through the strands. She was beauty in motion as she headed in my direction, arm-in-arm with Lark.
Halfway down the aisle, she turned to whisper something in Larkâs ear that made them both giggle, and when I saw the way that sweet little button nose crinkled as she smiled, my dick, already stirring to life at the sight of her, turned into an iron rod behind my fly.
Now I was fighting back the desire to march down that aisle and throw a woman over my shoulder, fireman style. Only I wanted to carry mine in the opposite direction, somewhere private so I could fuck her until we both went blind from coming so goddamn hard.
The music reached a crescendo just as the two of them reached the altar, and I had to swallow to alleviate the sudden dryness in my throat. Auroraâs gaze moved to Clay, and she offered my brother an excited smile. Then, almost as if they were moving of their own accord, those hydrangea blue eyes slid a little farther back to where I was standing.
If I
