They got up from their breakfast and ran to me then hugged me tightly in gratitude, but Jayla started to cry.

“What’s the matter, Jay?” I asked as I caressed her pretty face.

“I’m so happy,” she said.

“Oh, honey,” I replied and pulled her into my arms. I kissed her face then held her away. “Jay, you’re in charge of the list.”

“What list?”

“The Christmas list. You’re all going to work together to make a list of all the things we need to do and the things we need to get for Christmas. Work on that when you get home, after you finish your homework.”
