Over the course of the next six years the residents of 1749 North Mariposa Street were busy living, loving and learning. Carla appeared as a dancer in the following motion pictures: The Chocolate Soldier with Nelson Eddy and Risë Stevens (MGM, 1941), Mission to Moscow with Walter Huston and Anne Harding (Warner Bros., 1943), Step Lively with an all-star cast including Frank Sinatra, George Murphy (who later became Senator of California from 1964 through 1975), Adolphe Menjou, Walter Slezak, Eugene Pallette, comedians Carney and Brown, Gloria DeHaven and Anne Jeffreys (RKO, 1944). Miss Jeffreys had also appeared with Carla in a Greek Theatre operetta, one of several performances in which Carla danced.

Dancing alongside Frank Sinatra in Step Lively was a joy for Carla and she remembers that he was a perfect gentleman. Had she forged any special bonds with Mr. Sinatra? Carla summed it all up this way:
