Chapter Fourteen
Reese
I canât believe my time here in Indy is going by so fast. Being here with Austin the past week and a half has been amazing. The paparazzi still show up when I go to his games, and occasionally when weâve been out somewhere, but theyâve stopped camping outside his apartment building and following me if I go to the grocery store or the mall.
Austinâs coach agreed to let him miss the practices tomorrow and Saturday, as they donât have any games until Tuesday, so we can sneak away and he can meet my grandmother. When we fly back to Indy, my parents are joining us for the remainder of the week, to get to know Austin a little more, and will attend the last regular season game while theyâre in town.
Once they leave, with the regular season over, it will depend on where the other teams in his division finish the season that will determine who they play first in the playoffs. Theyâve already secured home-ice advantage, so we know theyâll start the series at home. Iâll get to stick around for the beginning part of the first round of the playoffs, but then I have to get back to Nashville for some meetings and tour practice before we head back out on the road in a few more weeks. Depending on who they play, I might try and sneak along to some of the other games during the playoffs to help support him as much as I can.
While Austin is at practice, Iâve been filling my days with either reading and truly relaxing during my time off, or working on writing some new songs. Iâm looking forward to a writing session I have set up today, with some writers Iâve worked with many times before. Thanks to the internet and video chat, we can virtually meet and work remotely together.
With my notebook out and the ideas Iâve been working on myself ready to be discussed with Stacey and Lee, I set up my laptop on the coffee table and pull up the video chat program, so Iâm ready when they call me.
âHey, chica!â Stacey greets me once our video call is connected a few minutes later. âHowâs Indy treating you?â
âItâs been wonderful. I donât want to leave,â I tell her honestly.
âGood to hear that itâs been good to you. You look great, by the way. Love looks good on you!â
I laugh out loud at her assessment. âIâll have to agree with you. This break has been just what I needed, and having someone special to spend that time with has made it even better. Iâve also been able to get to know a few of the wives of the other players, and they are all so nice. One just had a baby last week, and sheâs the cutest little thing ever!â
âIâm glad that youâre making friends.â
âItâs been so nice, and like I said, the other women are so sweet. They welcomed me right into their little group, like it was nothing.
