Any illusion I had harbored about the prospect of ending my legal career on a quiet note, however, was shattered ridi-culously early one morning in the fall of 2004, when I received a call from Neal Greenberg, a friend and client.

Neal had founded and ran a successful investment business out of Boulder, Colorado. I had previously helped his firm favorably resolve a dispute with a large insurance company, and now he needed my help again.
