Recipe 147: Braised Green Beans
These are not just plain old green beans. These have a lot of zipping.
Serving Size: 4
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
⢠2 tbsp. sugar
⢠3 tbsp. soy sauce
⢠1/4 cup white wine
⢠1/2 cup chicken broth
⢠1 package cubed tofu
⢠Salt
⢠Pepper
⢠2 tbsp olive oil
⢠1 onion, chopped
⢠4 minced garlic cloves
⢠1 red chili pepper, chopped
⢠1 ½ cup green beans cut in half
⢠1 cup water chestnuts, sliced
⢠1 cup baby corn
⢠Chicken broth as needed
Directions:
1. Combine the sugar, soy sauce, wine, and broth in a bowl and set aside.
2. Season the cubed tofu with salt and pepper.
3. In a pan, heat some olive oil and cook the onion, garlic, red chili pepper, and green beans for 5 minutes.
4. Add the water chestnuts, baby corn, and tofu, and sauce to the skillet.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, lower to low heat and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.
6. Add chicken broth as necessary.
