Different, but nice.

That’s how I felt when I woke up in Keith’s room. I must have been tired, as I discovered that I’d slept for five hours. I didn’t understand where the sudden tiredness came from, but either way, I was now awake and trying to convince my dear husband of two things: One, I didn’t need a doctor, and two, he needed to talk to his dad.

“You need to do this. You both need to talk,” I said before opening my mouth. Keith wouldn’t let me lift a finger after I woke up, so he was feeding me. It felt like he was treating me as if I was sick, or pregnant even. Gosh, that would’ve been far worse. He’d fuss over absolutely everything.

Pregnant? What am I thinking?

“You’re blushing,” Keith said, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“No, I’m not,” I said, knowing very well what he was going to ask next.

“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?”

Yep, I knew it.

I sighed. “It’s nothing. It's only small thoughts.”

“Tell me,” he said, and I bit my lip.

Fine. Here goes nothing.

“I was thinking of how fussy you might be if I were pregnant.”

Silence. Okay, I’ve said something bad.

“Then I’d fuss a hundred and fifty percent more over my two angels.”

Or not.

“So you’re not mad?”

“Why would I be mad?”

“I don’t know, I thought you might’ve had reservations about having kids.”

“I want a whole soccer team with you. But in time, after having spent my own fair time being married to you, where it’s just us two.”

“So, you want kids with me?”

“Who else would live up to my standards? Only you, baby.”

“That’s good . . . because I want to have your children, too.”

For some reason, this made him burst into laughter.

“Baby, you’re cute,” he said, kissing my forehead.

I smiled, feeling good about making him laugh.

“Know one thing, though.”

“What’s that?”

“I plan to take you to see the world.”

This is the second time he’s mentioned this, and I really believe he means it.
