LEADING OR DOING MEDITATION AND GUIDED RELAXATION PRACTICES
Throughout this book I have included a number of guided meditation and relaxation exercises. These involve scripts that can be read out or recorded. I have included a couple of these as part of the online resources that accompany this book. However, for the others, there are a number of ways to practise the meditations and guided relaxations.
If you are practising yourself, one of the best ways to do these practices is to read the text out aloud whilst recording it, and most modern phones have an easy-to-use record function. When reading, make sure you read slowly and clearly, and allow for lots of pauses, for people to process the information. You can then lie or sit down to listen to the recording. This is helpful, as you will have the recording for future use.
Another great way to practise is to have someone read the text to you while you sit or lie down in a comfortable position with your eyes closed.
Once you have familiarised yourself with the meditations and sequences, you can do them without the instructions as gradually you will remember more and more of the order.
