Fitness Assessments Specific to Older Adults
Chapter 2 outlined some simple assessments that you can use to measure your fitness level and track your progress. You may want to substitute those with some of the following assessments, which have been established specifically for people between the ages of 60 and 94. Regular and accurate performance feedback can assist you in developing realistic expectations of your own progress.26
Normal ranges for men are found in table 11.1, and normal ranges for women are found in table 11.2. If your score is over the range listed, consider yourself above average; if your score falls short of the range listed, consider yourself below average.
