We distinguish four fundamental types of organizational culture, each of which has both a positive and a negative face. Networked cultures exhibit high levels of sociability but relatively low levels of solidarity. They are often characterized by a friendly, family-like ethos. There are significant work-related social events, and these act to preserve and extend friendship patterns. Sociability often extends outside the workplace via social and sporting clubs that frequently involve whole families.
