FILING THE REPORT

Several years passed after the “Wall Street Contractor” Danforth Company and my firm made the agreement with the Small Business Administration that I would be their sole plumbing contractor and do their work as a minority contractor.

At that time, the president of the white contracting firm told the SBA that his firm did not want to do any plumbing work, and they would subcontract all his plumbing work to my firm. Danforth Company lied and started Danforth Plumbing trying to use me as a minority front company, only. Since I was stuck in this situation and had SBA on going jobs, I tried to make the best of the situation and give SBA an excellent completed job.

I wrote and gave SBA a detail jobs progress report. And, try to explain the troubled job situation I find myself in with SBA’s recommended teaming partner the Danforth Company. It is not worth my time and SBA’s time to waste because the Danforth Company’s discrimination will not change. Regretfully I must inform you that I put my faith in SBA to choose a nonbiased teaming partner for me that will be righteous. Danforth Company has shown to be a “Jim Crow ” company. Minorities and black folks have had enough of their type discrimination.

The (Wall Street Contractors) had several different company officers, with various vice presidents at that time, all honored this agreement. The working relationship between my firm, the minority community, and the Plumbers Union improved and became better than ever. Then, the Chairman of the board promoted his sons to the president and vice president positions, and their corporation became more of a controlled family business. Because a younger white Danforth company officers now became jealous of the minority workers winning bid jobs. They cause confusion and jealousy.

After that, there was an increase in dissention from the (Wall Street Contractors) and the Plumbers Union. The sons acted like spoiled children; their father had the money and undisputed control. I tried not paying attention because keeping my nose clean meant staying out of their company business. But then, the sons tried taking over my minority firm and that’s when the real fight against discrimination started.

It got so bad that several times, I met with the father, the Chairman of the board, alone, so as not to embarrass or disrespect him by speaking with him in front of others, I said, “My position from day one has not changed.” Also adding, “I will hire minorities as per my government contract. “I run my company 100 percent, and I do my own hiring and firing 100 percent, too. The violations of stealing against the government and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers must stop. Tell your sons to back off.”

The chairman of the board told me, “my boys are smart and too tough for you. You mean you cannot handle my boys?” “It’s not a question of whether they are too tough for me,” I told him, “but I am going to obey the law, and I will hire and train minorities, as per my contract with the federal government.
