Bionic Ear

Many deaf children can now get a device called a cochlear implant. The implant is a tiny electronic device that a doctor places beneath the skin behind a person’s ear. The person wears a small microphone that sends sound to the device. The device sends the sound to the person’s auditory nerve. The auditory nerve is the nerve that carries sound to the brain in order for the person to hear. The cochlear implant is sometimes called a bionic ear.
