Associations of Vitamin D Pathway Genes with Respiratory Disease

To date, nearly all studies focusing on how genetic variation in vitamin D and vitamin D pathway genes relate to respiratory disease have focused on using a candidate gene approach, with the vast majority of associations focusing on variation within the VDR gene, VDR. In this section, we will review salient studies that have focused on the genetic associations relating the vitamin D pathway to tuberculosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and respiratory infection.
