CONCLUSION
It's important that parents of girls with ADHD (as well as the girls themselves) do not overreact to the presence of multiple diagnoses. All of these different labels have more to do with the current state of our diagnostic system than a reflection of so many things being wrong in an individual girl. In fact, all of these developmental issues show a great deal of overlap. What's important is that parents and girls with ADHD develop a clear understanding of both strengths and weaknesses. From there, the task becomes to build a life that allows for a girl with ADHD to function primarily from her areas of strength, to work on improving areas of weakness, while receiving the supports she needs to succeed when she is required to function in areas of relative weakness.
