6. Manage the group process by assigning major roles to individual group members:The facilitator involves all participants in the problem-solving process, minimizes the use of premature evaluations, and brings hidden conflicts to the surface.
The clarifier restates everyone's opinions, perceptions, and attributions.
The critical evaluator analyzes and evaluates potential decisions at the end of any phase of the group.
7. Make creative use of the different management styles in the group. Identifying the range of differences in the group allows potential biases to be brought out in the open. The facilitator can use an understanding of these differences to elicit maximum contributions and to prevent conflicts over management style rather than substance. If an ESTJ participant is constantly asking for more facts and details, the facilitator can remind that person that her sensing aspect is getting in the way of moving on to defining or conceptualizing the problem.
8. At the end of each meeting, set some time aside for the group to evaluate the process that took place at that meeting.
