Back in the shelter, Dorothy was sat holding Edwardâs hand. She was worried about him. Anna was sat with William making sure he was ok. All of a sudden there was a huge bang. The entire shelter shook violently.
âWhat was thatâ? asked Dorothy.
âThat was too close,â said Edward. The blast was so powerful that it knocked Anna down on to the floor. Dorothyâs heart started to race. She wanted to know that her father was ok. As time passed there was no sign of George. It had been many hours since the last blast.
âI am going out there,â said Dorothy.
âNo, my lady remember what George said,â replied Edward.
âYes, we need to go out there I need to find Clara,â said William. Edward looked to Anna,
âWhat do we do?â he asked. Anna stood up and walked to the door she opened the door and said
âwe go and find themâ. They all stepped outside the smoke was so strong the smell of burning was intense. The devastation around them was unreal.
âSo, this is the apocalypse,â said Edward.
As they walked onto the main road, the heat from the fires would cause sweat to pour off Edward. Dorothy held onto him tightly, she was terrified. There was so much smoke, so much heat that it was hard to see. When they arrived at the market. They could see the true devastating effects of the blast. The bodies littered all over the market caused Anna to fall to her knees in tears. Dorothy turned into Edward and started to cry. William ran into the market shouting
âClara.â He started to tug at the bodies in hope he would find her. Edward then noticed something, He saw a man and what looked like a small woman under some rubble.
âEdward, over here,â he called.
âListen to me my lady, stay with your motherâ. Dorothy wiped her tears away and went to sit with her mother. As William got closer to Edward, he also saw the male and female bodies under the rubble. Williamâs heart sank he did not want this to be Clara. The boys frantically started to remove the rubble as fast as they could. Brick by brick they took them off. They turned the male body over. Edward gasped. William fell to the floor in tears, screaming at the top of his voice in anger. Dorothy and Anna come running over, everyone started to cry. There was George motionless with his eyes wide open. Dorothy jumped down onto the floor and started to do chest compressions. Edward grabbed Dorothy,
âstop there is nothing you can doâ. Dorothy started to scream and wail uncontrollably.
âFather please, wake up fatherâ. She then turned to Claraâs lifeless body on the floor. Dorothy saw nothing but rage for Clara. She began to hit her with both of her hands ferociously hard on her chest.
âHow could you, you killed my father with your selfishness,â she screamed. William pulled Dorothy off Clara
âleave her alone, she has suffered too,â he cried. Edward then wrapped his arms around Dorothy,
âI am angry too, but this solves nothing,â he said to Dorothy.
