“Our whole relationship was very volatile,” Douglas said. “He was mental, squirrelly.”

He acted that way with her kids too. Douglas claimed that Hilton got into an argument with her five-year-old son, Lonny. Off came his belt. Douglas felt that her son was out of line in what he said, so she let Hilton hit the boy twice with the belt. But then, he tried to do it a third time.

“That’s enough, Gary!” she yelled.

“Go to your room,” he shouted at Douglas, like she was a child.

When she refused, he came at her. Douglas’s hands came up in defense, but not in time to avoid the whack she got across the left side of the face. Douglas moved to the right and came back with a powerful left hook to her husband’s face, which stunned him.

“Di, where did that come from!?” he asked, looking at her in astonishment.

“They’re all my rooms! Don’t ever tell me to go to my room again!”
