Perhaps your biggest time waster is your commute to work. For many, an hour commute to work is normal. However, that hour back and forth adds up to two hours a day, ten hours a week, forty hours per month. Wow, that’s an entire work week wasted commuting every month. That really seems like a waste of life. Think about how many other things you could accomplish in that time, or simply have it for more leisure activities.
Maybe taking the bus or a train would be a more efficient use of your time. Instead of driving you could be wrapping up a project, making phone calls, or simply taking some time to relax instead of white-knuckling through traffic. Even choosing this option a couple of days per week when you know you will be able to catch the bus will lend you some extra time. If driving is the only option, try committing your time to learning new things by listening to webinars and books on tape. Everyone can benefit from learning something new, whether in line with their work or simply an interesting topic you want to know more about. This time means more productivity and efficiency all around.
