HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

We’ve considered this in Getting To Awesome already, but as a reminder: allocate two weeks for every 2 pounds you’re aiming to lose. You should lose between 1 and 2 pounds per week during this phase, but don’t be surprised if it’s more. Some RMR dieters, especially men, have lost up to 1½ stone in a week, though those are the outliers.

Note, however, that you are likely to lose more weight in the middle of Transformation than you will in the beginning or towards the end of it. From our data, it would appear that RMR dieters’ bodies take time to become adapted to burning fat before rapid weight loss can occur. Once this is started, the bulk of your weight loss should occur within three months; we’ve seen some people losing up to 4½ stone in that time, though we usually don’t recommend losing too much weight too quickly.

After the period of rapid weight loss is over, those stubborn last few pounds can take some time to shift – be patient.

This is the path you will have to stay on until you reach your Awesome weight. You may be tempted to take your foot off the pedal as you’re closing in on it, but that is when you will need to push yourself the most – it’s best to keep off the carbs until you’re past the chequered flag.
