Sometimes you have to sit down for a minute to get a different view of where you stand.

Ta-DONE

It is way too easy to focus on all the things left to do, which is something we are all prone to do when the distance to travel is near equal to how far we’ve already come. Today, instead of a TO-DO list, write a DONE list. Start from the beginning of your adventure and write out a series of finishes. I’ll give you the first few.

You looked hard at your life and set a goal.

You committed to that goal and created a plan.

Now it’s your turn. Look long and deep. What is different today from when you first opened this book? What is different today from when you hit a particularly low point? How have you grown? What things have you done? Are you happier? Do you feel more organized? Have you been keeping your word to yourself and following through on your action plan? And deeper still, what was something that you did even though you really didn’t want to? Sometimes that something is getting out of bed and going to work on a day that feels safer under the covers. Give yourself credit for what you’ve already achieved on your journey. Focus in on the finisher’s feeling and let it propel you to the next task.
