This is a story of motive and the deep rapport it creates between all people, even between strangers as Grandpa would say. Bert didn’t create rapport with us by being chummy, taking us out for beers and being one of the lads. He actually did very little of that. What he did do though, was create very strong rapport and a sense of camaraderie by creating a strong motive and a clear vision for where we were all headed. A strong motive is a powerful thing. I’m sure many of you have seen that rather interesting quote from Margaret Mead, the famous American cultural anthropologist:
