Chapter 18
Jasmine
Writing has never been easier, my fingers type rapidly on the keyboard as my eyes continue glued to the screen. Though I wasnât quite sure if the sudden burst of motivation was due to my inspiration or because I was on my fifth latte, today.
âJesus, I think you should take a break.â Kora mutters while taking a sip of her coffee as she stares at me from across the table of the café we were currently at.
âSays the girl who was glued to her piano chair for a week, composing music.â I retorted, my eyes finally leaving the screen to look up at her.
âI was talking about the coffee, not the writing.â Kora says, her eyebrows lifting in amusement .
Oh.
She was probably right about that one. âSorry, Iâve finally got this book rolling. I mean, I think Iâve actually got something to work with.â I remove my blue light glasses and replace the sip of coffee with the sip of my iced water that I had completely forgotten about.
âHey, I get it. Youâre finally getting some and now youâve got what you need to make this book come to life.â Kora shrugs, taking a bite out of her croissant, the flakes falling onto her black knitted vest. The whole time that I had been downing my lattes and writing frantically she had been enjoying her time watching people, giving out her comments and opinions here and there.
I stretch my fingers and crack them before they stiffened up on me. I had written more than enough and though Kora said she didnât mind not talking she still deserved my time, especially when she shared her own time with me when she was busy just to listen to me go off on a tangent about Oren. Shutting my laptop, I look up at her to give her my undivided attention.
âYou donât have toââ Kora begins.
âYes I do.â I say cutting her off, she obviously needed a friend and I was here to listen.
âIâm just nervous about this competition.â Koraâs hands reach towards mine at the table to hold onto them.
Her hands were cold and clammy, which only proved that Kora was very anxious about this competition. She had said it was a big deal for any classical musician and it could really help her career. Even though Kora looked like she had her life put together in reality she needed to win this in order to prove something to herself, in
