The peasant Sebastian thinks it is wrong when he sees that a bearded stranger has cleared many, many trees from the jungle. He does not say anything to him. However, he knows the man has hurt the jungle when he finds the river dry. That night, hearing noise, Sebastian and his dog run to the clearing. Yellow light emerges eerily from the ground. They see a pale woman dressed in leaves and branches grab the frightened, bearded man, who disappears inside her glow and shadow. Then she lifts him, and the man whirls like a twister off the ground, wrapped and shrieking. The light fades, and he falls. The bearded man tells Sebastian that she told him he was harming her. Sebastian knows the Mother of the Jungle had come to its defense.
