STICH Trial
The STICH trial was the first prospective randomized controlled trial (RCT) to assess the role of CABG compared to standard medical therapy in patients with severe LVSD and CAD. STICH enrolled a total of 1212 patients between 2002 and 2007 from 99 sites in 22 countries.
Patients with EF ≤35% and CAD that was amenable to CABG were recruited for randomization. Of these, 602 patients were randomized to the medical therapy alone group, and 610 patients assigned to medical therapy plus CABG group.
