160 The I Ching on Business

Start-Up

Make no proposals, do not suggest any ideas. Keep everything quiet.

Creative Judgement

Not necessarily poor but, once again, to avoid having violence done

to it, it is better to say nothing at present.

Advertising

Wait before making commitments. If you have not already reaped rewards from recent expenditures do not expect to in the near future. Certainly do not add to expenditure at this time.

Marketing

Keep marketing initiatives to a minimum to avoid unfruitful and

wasteful responses.

Feedback

Do not seek it as it would be negative and damage motivation. (But

do not be discouraged inwardly.)

Contracts and Agreements

Inauspicious. Best not to follow through at this time, even if pressed.

Growth and Productivity

Outwardly in decline. Inward development is possible; indeed, these

are times when inward growth flourishes.

Research and Development

This is not a time when breakthroughs are likely. No blindingly brilliant discoveries and insights can be expected. Do not make the mistake, on the other hand, of misjudging the value of previous work or destroying it.

Product Choice

Do not settle on a decision at this precise time.

Creative Input

You may be forced in upon yourself and thereby draw upon inner resources for ideas; in this way you could be re-working old impressions and memories which will not have much bearing upon external matters but may nourish the inner light considerably. In this sense creative input is important. External input is not to be valued -merely noted.

Sources of Misfortune

Insisting upon making your views known; making yourself visible, pushing yourself forward, generally being incautious in all communications. Responding to provocation.
