4) Effectively Utilize Your Partners
The best partner in the world is worthless if he or she is not effectively utilized. One of my favorite examples of this is the 1899 partnership between a start-up automotive company and a young engineer recruited to be its chief engineer and corporate officer. The company was the Detroit Automobile Company, and the engineer was Henry Ford. The company's ineffective utilization of Ford resulted in his being fired in 1901. The company went bankrupt shortly after that. In the two years Ford worked for the company, it failed to bring a single car to market. It had partnered with one of the greatest visionaries in industrial history, but it had failed to effectively utilize him. Two years later, Ford joined another group and created the Ford Automobile Company. Within a few years, one out of every two cars in the world had his name on it. This illustrates the incalculable difference between effectively utilizing partners and using them ineffectively.
Jesus was the ultimate master when it came to mentoring and partnering. Initially, he partnered with twelve disciples. Later, he partnered with many others. And his disciples took his message and mission out to the world and changed the course of human history.
