CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

As I make my way through the dimly lit halls, my thoughts are consumed by the progress I’ve made today. I can’t wait to share this triumph with Wolf, the one person who truly understands my journey and the challenges I face.

I slip into his room with the last of the sun’s rays withdrawing from the sky, and sit on the bed next to him, and I gently touch his hair, his shoulder, his hand. Is it wrong? Should I wait until he wakens? I desperately want to kiss him, but it seems too forward while he sleeps.

He wakes, his eyes finding me immediately. “Tulip,” he murmurs groggily.

“My prince,” I say, this time touching him with greater confidence, my success in performing my spells giving me a new mindset. As he sits up in bed, I move to help, inadvertently placing my hand at his thigh where a noticeable hardness lies under the blanket. “Oh,” I breathe, and I glance at him, eyes wide.

He chuckles softly. “One of the consequences of dreaming about you, or with you, I should say. We enjoy each other in our dreams, pay it no mind.”

“What if I don’t want to,” I say, emboldened. Remembering how we were interrupted the other evening. I know how I feel when I’m with him, and the thrill running through me that I only want to be with him, pleasuring him. I know I want this man, and if I’d remained at the cottage, I would never have found my family, never have conquered my magic, and never met the love of my life.

His brows draw together. “What are you asking, little dove?”

“That I will no longer live with regret,” I say. “I missed being with family, I was always fearful of my magic, I accidently—”

“Don’t say it,” he says. “I don’t want you judging yourself on a terrible mistake.”

I smile at him as the room continues to darken. “That’s my point. I want to live my life with nothing holding me back. I want you, Wolf.”

“You do not wish to wait for your wedding night?”

I laugh. “Are you proposing already?”

“You say you no longer wish to live with regret, but I want to make sure this won’t be a regret for later.”

“No more regrets,” I say resolutely, reaching to stroke his cheek. “It’s time to live my life.”

“As my lady wishes,” he murmurs, his hand cupping my cheek. I climb onto the bed, my fingers already beginning to unlace the ribbons of my gown.

“Is there any chance of interruption?” I ask.

“No,” he says quickly. “Unless I respond, Wynlyss will remain outside the door.”

The moment our mouths touch, it’s as if the world around us shatters into a million pieces. Our kiss deepens, becoming more passionate and urgent with every second that passes. I can feel the heat radiating off of our bodies as they press against each other, the desire building between us like a raging inferno. But it isn’t just lust that fuels us—there’s an undercurrent of love that makes the experience all the more intense.
