While the QC tools in the last section are typically used by employee teams to analyze and improve processes, the tools presented in this section are more often used by managers or knowledge workers to organize concepts, ideas, and words. These tools are also known as the new QC tools, and are oriented more toward facilitating management and planning activities. The seven tools are activity network diagram, affinity diagram, interrelationship digraph, matrix diagram, priorities matrix, process decision program chart, and the tree diagram.
