While on tour in Sweden, Sands' partiality to white lovers is attacked by a group of black Vietnam veterans as an abdication of her responsibility to her race. Furman is pointed out as a further example of her betrayal; his being a faggot distorts the image of the black man. "Get a real man," they tell her.
