Whole Foods in The Blood Code Diet

Whole food means that all the natural nutrients are present. When you choose chicken, the bone is in and the skin is on.

Boneless, skinless chicken is the white bread of the protein world. When you choose an egg, eat the white and the yolk. Choose beef with a natural fat content (no cut of beef is more than 85 percent lean, so avoid those products that claim over 90 percent lean), and cook it with the bone in whenever possible. The micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals in meats and fish are mostly found in the bones, organs, and the meat “juices” that come from slow cooking.

Take the extra steps toward food quality. As you eat higher on the food chain, pay closer attention to quality and farming impact. Make an effort to purchase your protein foods from sources that are organic, grass-fed, local, or at least “natural.” For fish sources, the Monterey Bay Aquarium offers a website and app to help you locate and choose regional and sustainable fish and shellfish.
