Solution

An infection in your abdomen or pelvis will typically cause pain, so the triad of fever, abdominal or pelvic pain, and bloating is particularly worrisome and warrants immediate medical attention to rule out a serious infection or, in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, a potentially life-threatening situation.

Inflammation

Inflammation is our body’s response to something harmful; a protective attempt to stop injury and heal tissue. Because our environment and much of our food contains harmful chemicals, living with inflammation has become a way of life for many of us.

Inflammation isn’t always visible to the naked eye, and it can be missed if a thorough and careful approach isn’t taken. If you’re having an endoscopic evaluation of your digestive tract to evaluate the cause of your bloating, extensive biopsies should be taken throughout your intestines to exclude inflammation. I’ve encountered lots of people who’ve suffered from bloating and were told, after a “normal” colonoscopy, that it was all stress-related, only to have the procedure repeated later with biopsies that find significant inflammation.
