“You should have told me when you first had your suspicions,” Blake said, letting go of Rick’s shirt.

Rick readjusted his clothes before grinding out, “Well, I’m telling you now.”

Blake looked at him, anger filling his eyes. He walked past Clara and Ted and left the room.

Clara watched Blake walk out of the room, thick tension seeping from him. Sheriff Ted looked at Rick, who was sitting again with his head in his hands, then back at Clara. With a weary look on his face, Ted followed Blake out of the room.

Ted followed Blake outside, hollering his name once they were out of Clara’s and Rick’s earshot. “BLAKE! What was that?” Ted spit out, close on Blake’s heels.

Blake stopped quickly causing Ted to almost run into him. He spun around and moved his face in close to Ted’s. “Back off, Ted,” he ground out through gritted teeth. “I’m dead serious. Back off. You have no idea what you’re dealing with. I’ve been through hell today, was almost killed, saw something that apparently wasn’t really there, and now I come to find out that my men have been keeping secrets from me. We could possibly have stopped a lot of killings before now and O’Malley might have had part of the key to this the entire time. Because he kept his suspicions to himself, I couldn’t do MY job.” Blake pointed to his chest. “DON’T mess with me.”

Blake turned back around and started walking across the street, making sure to look both ways. He was headed to his house and he didn’t want anyone to follow. He needed to be alone, but Ted apparently didn’t get that memo, because he kept following him.

“Blake, wait,” Ted called after him, trying to keep up. With Blake being 6 feet 2 inches tall and Ted being only 5 feet 8 inches, he had to speed walk to keep up with Blake’s normal stride.

“Ted, I told you to not mess with me. That means to leave me alone,” Blake said, ignoring that Ted was having a bit of a hard time keeping up with him.

Ted, now clearly frustrated, ran around in front of Blake and stopped with his arm out as if to stop Blake from walking any further. Blake pulled up short and looked down at Ted, raising an eyebrow as if to ask, Who do you think you are??

Blake tried to sidestep him, but Ted stepped back in front of him. Blake tried again to sidestep Ted, but Ted once again stepped in Blake’s path.

Blake started to growl, “Ted, enough. I don’t have time for this. MOVE!”

Ted looked at Blake, but instead of backing down, he seemed to stand a little taller and leaned in before saying, “You listen to me right now or I’ll arrest you for impeding an investigation.”

Blake stared at him before saying, “It would never stick and you know it.”

“Try me,” Ted said, not backing down. He glared at Blake, showing him that he meant business.

Blake ran his hand down
