Flaxseed oil, olive oil, almond butter, and canola oil are all good anti-inflammatory oils that offer a whole days’ dose of antioxidants in a single serving. Minimize use of the inflammatory fats and pay attention to those high in omega-6 fats. Flaxseed and canola oils boast the most favorable ratios. Almond butter, although it’s anti-inflammatory, corn oil, and peanut butter have appalling omega-6:omega-3 ratios.
Next, look at the amount of omega-6 in a fat to see what it’ll do to your daily consumption. Butter is a reasonable choice if you’re not watching your cholesterol. You don’t want to eat gobs of it—one pat a day will do—but it’s preferable to margarine, which contains eight times as many omega-6 fats. Soybean oil, corn oil, and peanut butter slam you with more than your entire daily consumption.
