Awaken
As you awaken, bring to mind that this is the first of three days that will lead to life above the line, where the drives to overeat have faded. You eat less because those cravings and drives have subsided. You’ve stopped wanting the extra food.
Connect Inside
Take time to transition from sleep to wakefulness, breathing deeply and shifting your awareness inside. Become conscious that there is a safe place inside you, even if that place is very small. It is a place that feels comforting to you, a sanctuary. During the next three days, you will move your attention often from what is outside you to that place inside. That’s where you will find a supportive inner voice that will ask you the questions of the Solution Skills.
Create Your Day
When you are ready, begin to turn your attention to your day. Take several minutes to consciously create your day—the way you want it to happen. Make solid an intention that will guide you through this day. Use the following intention or a similar one that works for you.
I expect myself to do the best I can to stay above the line.
Visualize yourself walking through your day, staying above the line. There will be upsets, temptations, and distractions, but you will keep on target. You will not focus on pleasing others, getting everything perfect, or being in complete control. Instead, all you intend is that you will stay above the line.
By creating your day, stating an expection or intention that is your focus, your feeling brain awakens. The neural networks that focus on staying above the line strengthen.
