You can only learn something so much by hearing or reading about it.
The real gold is to be found in the doing. With Telling, this is both easy and difficult. Easy, because you can use it with any kind of writing you’re doing, fiction or otherwise, even emails. Difficult, because who wants to start using some new technique on a really important story or email when you could really mess it up?
Even if you can go over it again and again, by revising it, it just doesn’t feel so comfortable to use a technique or method that you’re not familiar with.
