Supporting the activity

There are two stages to this part of the development process: (a) a collaborative reflection exercise and (b) the writing of an initial statement to support private reflection.

(a)The collaborative reflection exercise

This can be facilitated in a number of different situations but is best done at the very beginning of a programme as a workshop for a teachers' group (see Workshop 4, p. 76). Resource 19 (p. 113) should be used in pairs or trios to enable each participant to reflect on their ‘professional predicament'. The blank format (Resource 20, p. 114) can be used to make notes to provide a basis for the initial statement (both Resources 19 and 20 can be adapted to suit the circumstances of your group).
