Seeding Togetherness

One afternoon we were packing up to move out of our little green home in a small town. Among the busy moments of stuffing objects into unlabeled and disheveled boxes, I noticed my neighbor out washing his car, as neighbors sometimes do. We had lived there for 3 years, which felt like an eternity for a free-spirited, wandering, “don’t lock me down” type. But this man had lived there his whole life. He grew up in this home, now with his two grown children, and the house was passed down from his parents and their parents before them. He grew up playing and running in the same grass he now mowed. His loyalty to the space intrigued me.
