T levels across the life span in males and females

As the figure above shows (and as we saw in chapter 3), way back in the womb is where the sex difference in T starts—boys are exposed to much higher levels than girls, at as early as eight weeks of gestation. This higher T masculinizes the brain (organizational effects), as I explained in chapter 4. It’s during puberty that these previously masculinized brain structures are again exposed to high levels of T, which further shapes them in response to the individual’s experiences and environment, and activates them for male sexual behavior.

Given the evolutionary pressures on each sex to maximize reproductive success, how would we expect men and women to differ in their sexual desires? And given what we know about the importance of the environment, how would we expect men and women to differ in their actual behavior?
