The Swedish countryside contains many examples of different eras of architecture. The “Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland” show traditional Swedish construction techniques in the wealthy farming society of the 1800s in the county of Hälsingland. Of the forty magnificent farmhouses that are open to visitors, seven are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Other examples of traditional architecture in Sweden are the whitewashed long houses in the county of Skåne, and the rust-red wooden cottages of Dalarna County.
